The fee anchors on the middle rungs come from one published price list — that of IIPM, the Indian Institute of Pharmaceutical Marketing: an autonomous, non-profit society based in Lucknow and teaching since 1998, whose tier structure happens to price the whole middle of the ladder in public. The top rung is a university's published total. Every figure is the whole-programme amount.
Nothing official stands behind the word "certificate" — anyone can print one. Its entire worth is the skill it teaches plus the reputation of whoever issued it. Buy one to close a single, nameable gap: a tool, a technique, one function's vocabulary. Never buy one because its title sounds like a qualification.
The first rung where somebody examines you on a complete syllabus. The paper says: foundational, tested coverage of one specialisation. It is an institute's own award — outside UGC purview, valued on the issuer's standing — and the first rung worth putting on a CV as a credential rather than a course.
The function-switcher's rung. Two extra months buy the depth to move from doing one job inside a function to handling the function's basics end to end. Same instrument as rung two — institute paper — with a bigger claim on it.
One specialisation at postgraduate depth, still on institute paper. For a working manager who needs capability rather than a statutory qualification, the ladder usually ends here — on purpose. The year is the commitment; the four-figure boundary is long gone by the time universities price this rung.
The only rung with statutory standing, and the only one a university can issue. The anchor here: the NAAC A-accredited Swami Vivekanand Subharti University (SVSU) in Meerut, whose distance MBA carries dual specialisation drawn from Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management, Operations Management and Strategic Management. The teaching runs through the university's distance learning centre, IICT — which stands for Indian Institute of Commerce and Trade — a Lucknow-based autonomous institute at work since 1997; the examining and the award stay with the university. Two names, two jobs — and the degree carries the university's. Entitlement is granted for a specific programme in a specific session, so check the current record, not last year's.
Half a rung above the PG diploma sits the credential that generates most of this site's mail: the masters-level diploma styled "MBA". IIPM's flagship is the clean example — two years at ₹25,000, ₹26,000 with dual specialisation, a one-year executive edition at ₹20,555, a one-year fast-track at ₹27,500 — and the institute's own literature files it as an autonomous masters diploma, which is exactly what it is. A title is not an instrument. An institute award stays an institute award however it is styled; and that is no scandal — the IIMs were society-registered institutes whose flagship credential, the PGDM, was a postgraduate diploma right up to the IIM Act coming into force in 2018. What matters is knowing which instrument you are buying. The moment a page blurs that, leave the page.
How long a credential takes tells you what kind of statement it can make about you. Months can vouch for a skill. Only years can vouch for a level. Match the clock to the claim you actually need to make.
